With the need for improved swarf handling, CROMAR enhanced an existing 3’’ conveyor to facilitate a larger skip. This was achieved by increasing the height of the existing conveyor and adding a reciprocating conveyor to evenly distribute the swarf into the skip.
Main challenges included:
- Ensuring heavy weight supporting structure
- Adapting to existing conveyor
- Working with the building and environment
Design ensured the cantilever structure was sufficient to support the reciprocating conveyor while allowing space for a skip to be placed below. The end result reduces manual labour and improves health and safety. With swarf now being extracted effectively, manufacture can run without interruption.
