With the need for improved swarf handling, CROMAR enhanced an existing 3’’ conveyor to facilitate a larger skip. This was achieved by increasing the height of the existing conveyor and adding a reciprocating conveyor to evenly distribute the swarf into the skip. Main challenges included: <ul> <li>Ensuring heavy weight supporting structure</li> <li>Adapting to existing conveyor</li> <li>Working with the building and environment</li> </ul> Design ensured the cantilever structure was sufficient to support the reciprocating conveyor while allowing space for a skip to be placed below. The end result reduces manual labour and improves health and safety. With swarf now being extracted effectively, manufacture can run without interruption.

We provide apprenticeships in partnership with local training providers, to develop the skills and expertise that will secure the long term aspirations of our business and encourage our people to be the best that they can be. Over the last 5 years we have consistently provided career opportunities for young people along with further training, education and development when apprenticeships have been completed. This year we have appointed 3 new apprentices to develop electrical and fabrication expertise in line with our planned growth and to meet the expectations of our customers in the future. We also have an additional 3 full time employees having completed their apprenticeships one of which is continuing his development by completing his HND.

Design and development of the well known steel telescopic cover range for new design and refurbishment has now a modern design facility at the offices in Scotland. To add to the facility in Scotland a new Amada press brake has been installed to deal with the ever increasing accuracy of this product and also to speed up manufacture which enables CMP to produce very competitively with other European manufacturers. A new factory was opened some 2 years ago additional to the first unit which was opened 11 years ago, this has given a 50% increase in capacity for production and with the improved facilities quality and services have also been improved.
